  • Texas Divorce Talk Allegedly Prompted Man to Shoot Wife!

A frightening incident occurred last week in Tyler, Texas when a woman was shot by her husband after telling him that she wanted a divorce. According to a KTBS 3 story, police believe that Richard White was upset that his wife, Lucinda, had told him that she was going to leave him. Police said that White confronted his wife last Wednesday at the East Texas Medical Center, where she worked in the cafeteria, and they then went outside to talk. Richard White then allegedly drew a .380-semiautomatic pistol and shot her several times. A bystander, Ronald Norton, was struck in the ankle by a stray bullet which came through the hospital lobby door.

Police said that the 43-year-old Richard White then got into his car and fled. After getting a description of the car, police arrested White without incident at a gas station nearly two mile from the hospital. White was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and bond was set at $1.25 million. As of last Thursday, Lucinda White was still in critical condition at the hospital while Norton was listen in good condition. The 38-year-old White was upgraded to fair condition on Friday while doctors would not comment on where or how many times she was shot, according to a KETK-TV story.

A KLTV story detailed that the couple had been married for nearly 20 years and had two children. The couple also divorced in the mid-1990s but remarried in 2002. Visit The Divorce Blog for any updates on the condition of Lucinda White.
