Fifteen years after shooting her then lover’s wife in the head, “Long Island Lolita” Amy Fisher is allegedly getting back together with Joey Buttafuoco. A New York Post story has reported that the 53-year-old Buttafuoco is moving from California to Fisher’s Long Island home. As a minor, the now 32-year-old Fisher had an affair with Buttafuoco and then shot his wife at the time, Mary Jo, in the head. Fisher served prison time for the shooting, wrote two books about the incident and later apologized to Mary Jo Buttafuoco, who suffered severe injuries from the shooting and got a divorce from Joey in 2003. Joey Buttafuoco also served time for his role in the illegal relationship.

Rumors that Fisher and Buttafuoco were getting back together recently surfaced when the two were spotted walking arm-in-arm the night before the 15th anniversary of the shooting. After originally saying that they were just having dinner, it was reported that Buttafuoco is leaving his estranged wife Evanka for Fisher, who apparently has sent her husband Louis Bellera to the curb if you’re to believe a report on TV’s “The Insider” (and why wouldn’t you?). Fisher and Bellera met on the Internet and have two children together.

Critics have called Buttafuoco’s and Fisher’s alleged reunion a stunt to promote a planned reality-TV show. Hasn’t the world suffered enough watching the Buttafuoco-Fisher story? The bizarre story was depicted in three made-for-TV movies in the early 90’s.

There was 1992’s “Amy Fisher: My Story,” starring former professional football player Ed Marinaro as Joey Buttafuoco. Two popular actresses—Drew Barrymore and Alyssa Milano—portrayed Fisher in similar television movies in 1993. Barrymore starred as Fisher in “The Amy Fisher Story” while Milano took on the role of the Long Island Lolita in “Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story” (the only casualty here is that Milano, a child star on “Who’s the Boss,” has this movie on her resume).

Knowing the sordid history of Fisher and Buttafuoco, it would hardly come as a surprise if their reunion was a publicity stunt. However, if this reunion proves to be legitimate, let’s all hope that Fisher and Buttafuoco can keep firearms out of it.
