While she is focusing on the future and the possible leading spot on the Democratic presidential ticket in the 2008 election, Hillary Rodham Clinton is being brought back to a part of her life that she would probably like to forget. In a proof of his new Hillary Clinton biography “A Woman in Charge,” Carl Bernstein writes that former President Bill Clinton considered getting a divorce from his wife in 1989 in order to be with another woman. And who was that woman? An Arkansas marketing executive by the name of Marilyn Jo Jenkins. A Newsday.com story detailed that Bernstein cited former Bill Clinton confidant Betsey Wright and other unnamed aides as sources of this revealing information.

The book includes details that a distraught Hillary Clinton was allegedly worried about how a divorce would affect her daughter Chelsea and refused the notion of divorce. Eventually, the affair between Bill Clinton and Jenkins fizzled. In response to this revelation in Bernstein’s book, Hillary Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said that “voters have put these issues in the past.” Bill Clinton’s political career was, of course, wrought with scandals involving Gennifer Flowers, Paula Corbin Jones and Monica Lewinsky.
