  • Examining the Divorce Case of the Shooter in Recent Idaho Rampage

A recent story in the Bonner County Daily Bee provides some more details about a man who went on a deadly rampage in Moscow, Idaho a couple of weekends ago. Jason Kenneth Hamilton allegedly murdered his ex-wife Crystal Dawn Jones on Saturday, May 21st before proceeding to unleash bullets from two military-style rifles outside the Latah County Courthouse. In the process, Hamilton killed a Moscow police officer and the caretaker of a Presbyterian church that he fled to and committed suicide in. The Bonner County Daily Bee story reported that Hamilton and Jones cited irreconcilable differences when filing for divorce in the county in August of 2004. The couple then tried to have the divorce dismissed some three days later. That request was denied by a judge, who said that the couple could request a hearing to have the divorce set aside. No such action was taken by the couple.

The story added that the couple was married in March of 2002 and did not have any kids. Apparently, there was no dispute over property division or debts, and the couple lived at separate addresses in Moscow. A Lewiston Tribune story revealed that the 36-year-old Hamilton did have a violent history over the past 15 years. We’ll keep you updated on any more developments with this unfortunate story.
