  • Accused Murderer Darren Mack Ordered to Pay Reno Divorce Settlement

The Divorce Blog has previously detailed the disturbing criminal case of Darren Mack, who is accused of killing his wife and shooting the Reno judge who resided over his ugly divorce, and here’s the latest update on this headline-making story. Exactly a year after allegedly stabbing his wife Charla to death and then firing into the office chambers of Judge Chuck Weller, Darren Mack was ordered on June 12th to pay more than $1 million to the estate of his deceased wife. Mack had allegedly thought that Weller was siding with his wife during the settlement. After allegedly killing his wife and trying to do the same to Weller, Mack fled the country and was on the lam for 11 days before surrendering in Mexico on June 23rd of last year. He has since pleaded not guilty and not guilty by the reason of insanity. His criminal trial is set for October 1st.

Last week, Judge David Huff ruled that Mack pay $480,000 in cash to the estate of Charla Mack and that he also pay $500,000 over five years and kick in $15,500 for arrears and support and $6,500 from a brokerage account. Mack’s criminal defense attorney Mark Wray said in an Associated Press story that Huff was basically rewriting history and that he would convene with his client to determine what to do next. After Weller was shot, all Washoe County judges were removed from the case and Clark County Judge Huff stepped in. Weller denied all of Darren Mack’s allegations that he was siding with Charla in the case.
