The illinois flat rate is sad to say the least. I.m a noncustodial dad and have my
so n 50% of the time or more. I buy everything he needs when he needs it, yet my X is living high on the hog on basically free money! We both make the same amount of money, have our son equally, yet I have to pay. Doesn't make sense and it is flat out wrong.

If I get a financial windfall, the x gets a piece, if the x gets a financial windfall, I get nothing and still have to pay, wow, who invented that.

Illinois child support laws are archaic and need to be redone so that they compute child support on a more realistic level, just to figure a flat 20% per child is insane. I do not support people not paying their child support but think when the courts order you to pay a flat 20% without any consideration of other obligations or present family is ludicrous,if you set a amount that they can't pay what other choice do you have.

Great post, wish it was done for both sexes. I've been trying to get child support out of my ex wife for years and cannot get any help from the courts. I think people are to quick to assume that the dead beat parents not paying child support are always men... not true, women do it also. Sure hope they start tracking them down!

I agree, wonderful post. I wish they'd do this in all states, sure would reduce the amount of dead beat parents. Some states do similar things, but in my opinion its not nearly harsh enough... the harder, the better. The less court money and time wasted if you ask me.
Strange coincedence, I used the document service in the poster's name above, highly recommended (if I can do that?) It made the situation much easier and a whole lot less stressful working with them... A bit surprised to see the link here though!
