  • Divorce: Facebook Style

Emma Brady found out her marriage was over after her husband posted it in his Facebook status:

“Neil Brady has ended his marriage to Emma Brady.”

Emma told The Daily Mail that she wasn’t aware her husband wanted a divorce. The status allowed friends to know about the end of the marriage even before Emma did, and even to comment.

One friend told Neil he was better off without Emma.

The “first divorce by Facebook” came shortly after a study explored the idea that Facebook encouraged jealousy in relationships.

I have also fell victim to a Face book ended marriage so I really feel for Emma. My wife of 21 years was using Face book to get up with some old high school friends and ended up having an affair with one and leaving state to be with him. She had left me with all the debt and responsibility of taking care of our daughter to pursue a high school relationship. I did not have a Face book page but found out after that people that I attend church with saw things on
her face book that lead them to the conclusion that she was having an affair before I ever knew.
