Divorces of the rich and famous can end up costing one spouse a lot in alimony. Their exes often request that their former spouse pay to continue the lavish lifestyle to which they’ve grown accustomed.

Billionaire Gordon Peter Getty, Jr., and his soon to be ex-wife Jacqueline are no exception. Jacqueline Getty is requesting a large sum of money to provide for her current lifestyle: $314,727 a month.

The couple married in 2000, but their marriage began to have issues soon after it started.

Jacqueline Getty wrote in the divorce papers, “Shortly after our marriage, Peter began to be emotionally abusive, calling me cruel names, telling me that I was stupid and uneducated, but that he had graduated from Harvard.”

So they decided it was time to end their marriage.

According to the New York Post, the couple filed for divorce in LA Superior Court. Jacqueline listed out her expenses in the divorce papers. So what does it cost to “live like a Getty?”

Here’s what she said:

• Clothing, accessories and jewelry cost her a grand total $44,414 per month. This is more than some people make in a year.
• She requested the current cost to lease and maintain her vehicles at $7,495.
• She also requested some smaller expenses such as cell phone bills and around $250 for any future parking fines down the road.
• She requested additional money to help with her 23-year-old daughter Gia. Gia is not Peter Getty’s biological child, but Jacqueline says that Getty helped take care of her daughter for the duration of their marriage.
• Jacqueline Getty also requested $50,000 to plan the annual Halloween party that the couple always threw together during their marriage.

Jacqueline Getty insisted that she needs top divorce attorneys to go against her husband in the divorce case. So she asked that the judge to allow her $350,000 for lawyers and $100,000 for accountants.

Jacqueline Getty said she deserves her current lifestyle because she gave up her successful career as a stylist and costume designer to marry her husband. So she ultimately gave up any potential income she could have earned on her own.

Her future lifestyle will have to play out in the courts.

Peter Getty is the grandson of oil baron J. Paul Getty, whose estimated wealth of $2 billion landed him at number 156 on Forbes list of wealthiest Americans.
