Liberty Ross, a professional model, has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband Rupert Sanders, a film director who famously admitted to having an affair with actor Kristen Stewart, according to a report from ABC News.
Sources indicate that the 34-year-old model filed for divorce from her 41-year-old husband this week in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Sources also note that the two have been living separately for several months.
Sanders, who directed the film “Snow White and the Huntsman,” reportedly had an affair with Stewart, the film’s star. The affair was gossip fodder for several weeks, and prompted an apology from Sanders about six months ago.
At the time, Sanders was married to Ross, but Stewart was also dating Robert Pattinson, her co-star in the “Twilight” series of films. Stewart also publicly admitted that she had cheated on Pattinson.
In a statement released to People magazine in July 2012, Sanders said he was “utterly distraught about the pain” he had “caused his family,” which includes two children, both of whom are under the age of seven.
Sanders also said that his “beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world” and that he was “praying that we can get through this together.” Despite this heartfelt admission, it seems that the 10-year marriage between Ross and Sanders will soon be coming to an end.
According to sources, Ross has asked for joint custody of their children, and has also requested that Sanders pay alimony support as well as the cost of her attorney’s fees.
The divorce, however, does not come as much of a surprise, sources say. In a recent video series filmed for Alexander Wang after the designer’s latest fashion show, Ross said that 2012 had been “the end of some things and the beginning of something else.”
The model, who posed for a series of nude photographs shortly after filing for divorce, continued her not-so-cryptic comments by noting that “[b]eginnings and endings are really exciting.”
Of course, while Sanders and Ross head down the path towards a divorce, not all was lost as a result of the affair between Sanders and Stewart.
According to sources, Stewart and Pattinson have reconciled, which is good news for fans of the “Twilight” series, which may have suffered a dip in the films’ otherwise sterling acting performances if its two primary stars had nursed a grudge against each other.
